With so many things a stay – at –home mom does on
a daily basis, Addy Mau-Perez manages to squeeze
in time to manage her home–based business.  That’s
not the amazing part.  What’s amazing is that she
does all this with a sparkling smile, or to use her
words “sparkle and bling”.

Addy’s jewelry company is called
Heaven Sent
Jewelry because as she says, “I was laid off from
Corporate America and decided to stay home with
my two little ones.  One of my friends introduced me to
jewelry making and to Swarvoski crystals and wow!
That was it!”  The sparkle and beauty of Swarvoski
crystal is what got Addy practically hypnotized.  She
began a relentless quest to launch a successful
jewelry business.  She now gets to stay home and
raise her two children and have a successful
business.  That is truly heaven sent!

How does she manage her kids and a business at
the same time?  She says that she incorporates her
kids in her business as much as she can.  “I am
teaching my kids about the business.  I sometimes
take them to my appointments with my clients.  My
kids see me interacting with clients and at home when
I’m on the phone and on the computer.  I just teach
them as much as I could.  But most of my work is
done when they are asleep.”

She takes care of her two little ones all day and when
they fall asleep she is online, networking, filling out
orders, networking, coming out with new ideas, and
did I mention networking?  She has a special talent
connecting with people.  She is a real joy to be
around.  She is always positive and always smiling.
Even her emails always end with a smiley face : )  !
She also has a special talent in standing out in a
crowd.  She credits this to growing up with 4 older
brothers.  She also credits them with teaching her to
have “
más animo” in the face of opposition.  If
someone tells her she can’t do something that just
gives her
más animo to prove she can.

She knew she had to stand out from the crowd in
order to succeed.  She came out with an idea for a
pet jewelry contest but it had to be more than that.
She came up with the idea of celebrity judges.  With
Addy’s special networking talent that was easy!
Eduardo Xol (Extreme Make-over: Home Edition)
and Judge Cristina Perez (Corte de la Familia)
judged the event and it was a great success!  She
also came up with an idea for bookmarks.  She
designed a bookmark for an author friend and it was
a hit!  She soon found a niche with authors and of
course with avid readers.

All her hard work paid off after only 15 months in
business when she was recognized with the Small
Business Award of the Year from the Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce of Orange County,
California.  Now she had credibility and nothing can
stop this
mejicana on a mission to run a successful
business from home!

Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to “Find a
support system.  It is very important, especially from
your spouse.  My spouse is very supportive of what
I do.”  Speaking to her I would say what also helps
is her “sparkle and bling”.  But I don’t think you can
learn that anywhere.  But you can buy it!  Where
else but from
Heaven Sent Jewelry, of course!
