When Cynthia Cuprill first had her baby she
decided she was going to breastfeed.  This former
model shopped everywhere for a nice nursing bra,
but all she could find were drabby looking, all cotton,
bright white nursing bras.

One day as her family was planning the family
vacation her sister asked, “Where should we go?”
Cynthia grabbed the opportunity and suggested
FRANCE!  “If they don’t have this bra that I can
picture in my mind in France, the lingerie capital of
the world, then they just don’t have it anywhere!”

This Puerto Rican Mommy – Diva went from
boutique to boutique in Paris searching for a pretty
nursing bra.  Of course they had nursing bras!  “
Un
moment s’il vous plait
”, the young saleslady would
say as she whisked off to the back of the store.
She would return usually wiping the dust off the box
the bra came in.  “
Merci ummm…  Muchas
gracias…
but... no thanks!”, Cynthia would say.

Boutique after boutique of the same dull-all-cotton-
bright-white bra didn’t discourage Cynthia instead it
strengthened her resolve.  She said, “That settles
it!  This bra doesn’t exist anywhere in the world!”
Condessa, Inc. was born!  I say born because this
former model knows nothing about sewing or
fashion designing or even drawing!
Cynthia Cuprill failed sewing class in middle school.
In grammar school she could draw only stick
figures.  When she was a little girl playing with paper
dolls she couldn’t cut out the paper outfits exactly on
the dotted line.  How did she become a fashion
designer???  Simple.  She had one GREAT idea!
This Diva Latina wouldn’t settle for drabby when what
she really wanted was to be dazzling.   She’s not just
a fashion designer!  She’s an innovator, an inventor,
an entrepreneur.

She says that she explained the design to the
manufacturer who would then sew it and show her
and this went on for a year!  “Which is CRAZY!” she
said.  But not crazier than the fact that nursing bras
haven’t changed much since the 1950’s!  Once she
finally got exactly the bra she wanted then she was
ready to open shop!

This
Beauty and the Biz story is not only about a
new idea, it’s about uplifting women – literally!  and
figuratively!  The bras are empowering in that you feel
like a woman again!  The colors are bright and
cheerful, helping to lift your spirit.  Breast feeding
moms deserve it!

Diva Latina  that has made a
lasting contribution for women everywhere!
