Remember the group Salt ‘n Pepa?
Did you know that one of them is Puerto Rican?! Which one? you ask. Pues, ¡PEPA!
We are always trying to be noticed for our contributions to Hip Hop, even if we have to make a joke about it. No more! Thanks to a soon-to-be released documentary: From Mambo to Hip Hop. Be sure to take your friends so you can reminisce together and say, “Hey! Remember that?!” The documentary surrounds the Bronx, where it all began, how the people changed and so did their music. Salsa music, and Latinos in general, helped shaped what we know as Hip Hop today. Read all about From Mambo to Hip Hop.
Hip Hop is still going through changes. Now there is Reggaeton. It seems like it’s here to stay. It even has its own radio station in New York City called La Calle 105.9 FM.
Hip Hop has been around for a few decades now. One Latino artist comes to mind that has been around for over a decade. Many times Fat Joe is overlooked as just another rapper. But his career deserves much more respect than that! Lean backand read all about Fat Joe.
La Diva is doing everything but leaning back. There are exciting changes happening at LaDivaLatina.com. We are looking for models! If you think you can be the next Diva Latina, send us your photos, basic information according to our guidelines, and you just might be La Diva’s Next Top Model!
Finally, this September issue is dedicated to all who lost someone on 9-11. We will NEVER forget you. Especially to Victor Barbosa, known as “Torvy” or “Boryman” by everyone. He was one of the first to help bring Reggaeton to the Bronx. Crowds would swarm around him to hear him sing, rap, and do his Merengue and his Reggaeton thing. Torvy died Sept. 11th, buried just a few months ago, but forever and a day in our hearts. God Bless!
